WHAT THRILLS YOU ABOUT COLLECTING?
I never know what I am going to find next and that is what I love. That after all these years of collecting, that there is always something that I come across that I have never seen before. I never know what I am going to find next. It is so exciting to me
WHICH ACCESSORY CATEGORY DO YOU FIND THE MOST INTERESTING TO COLLECT?
I think Shoes. Not necessarily to wear but shoeís history, the design is amazing. The craft of shoes making, is more than anything imaginable.
WHAT WAS THE MOST INFLUENTIAL PERIOD IN FASHION IN YOUR VIEW AND WHO COMES TO MIND?
I think maybe the twenties. It was a time when womenís bodies werenít so constricted and there were a lot of true artists who were doing things really creatively for women to wear, a lot of changes, really experimental with design taken from Victorian dressing but using more opulent fabrics, the use of floral and geometrics and stenciling, the introduction of fortuny, they really pushed the envelope.
IS THERE ANY DESIGNER THRU HISTORY WHOSE CONTRIBUTION YOU FEEL OUTSHINES THE REST?
I think that Paul Poiret was an incredible designer who alongside of Wiener Werkstatt of Vienna Workshop, Vienna in the 20ís. They did amazing, whimsical things, pushing the envelope, collaborations utilizing their fabrics and also high quality craftsmanship. Poiretís Lamp Shade dress. the costumes he did for the The Rights of Spring dance by Stravinsky
